pareil, faut pas juger sur le dessin seulement, mais aussi sur l'histoire : faudra lire pour se faire une idée, mais dans la catégorie sous-Kirby, c'est pas mal, et on peut compter sur Casey pour amener des idées rigolottes.

Donc vendre et être commercial s'est obligatoiremenent servir la soupe à laquelmle le lecteur est habitué ?

Il se passait des trucs dans cette série: l'immersion de Dolby dans un univers qu'il ne connaissait pas et qui le met mal à l'aise, Wax et l'utilisation ambigues de ses pouvoirs hypnotiques, Garfield et la CIA, l'impact de la technologie alien sur les produits d'Halo, bref plein de truc qui ne sont pas traités avec des gros sabots.

Même sur Paris, c'est dur à trouver, donc déjà, j'ai deux numéros sur quatre. Ce que j'en ai lu, j'aime : c'est délirant, cosmique, avec plein d'idées qui ne sont pas originales en soi, mais qui rentrent dans la composition d'un cocktail riche et super plaisant. Des petites idées un peu "hard science" pour rendre le tout plus SF que super-héros, des personnages hauts en couleur, un petit côté décalé (pas subversif, mais bon, c'est clair que ça serait pas pareil chez les majors…).

Vraiment, c'est une lecture très agréable.


Et j'aime bien le dessin. "Sous-Kirby", c'est clair. "Moche", je trouve pas.
Bon, c'est plus proche du Kirby de la fin, celui de Pacific ou de Topps, mais c'est bien à regarder quand même…

Ouais, je suis d'un avis similaire. C'est du Kirby de deuxième génération, un gars qui a appris à dessiner uniquement en regardant du Kirby et en en recopiant ad nauseam, mais sûrement pas en apprenant aussi par côté la perspective et l'anatomie. Celles-ci sont en général approximatives, et les décors sont souvent shuntés pour éviter de gros problèmes. Ça reste potable, mais faut pas y regarder de près.

C'est du Kirby de surface, sans la solide narration et l'anatomie radicale mais juste (je parle des longueurs de cuisses, ou de régularité de traits) du King. Je comparerais le résultat à du Herb Trimpe de la fin encré par un Milgrom pressé. C'est amusant et regardable, mais c'est un à la manière de, plus enthousiaste que solide.

Joe Casey et Tom Scioli feront un break de trois mois (juillet à septembre), si bien que GØDLAND #13 ne sortira qu'en octobre 2006.
The entire GØDLAND team -- myself, co-creator Tom Scioli, letterer and designer Richard Starkings and colorist Nick Filardi -- are pretty breathless after finishing a year's worth of issues and keeping it on a monthly schedule. That regularity has always been a priority for us, and we wanted the second year's worth of issues to continue that trend. Hence, the break in publishing. We'll be working our ass off during that break, getting completed issues in the can so when we come back in October, we're coming back strong. Actually, you can actually blame all this on the characters themselves. After finishing the script for issue #12, I knew we were going to have to pull out all the stops to top that one. Will we do it? I guess you'll just have to start reading GØDLAND and judge for yourself!

The Goldand Celestial Edition

Following the publication of the first two Godland trade paperbacks, Hello, Cosmic! and Another Sunny Delight, Image Comics plans to collect issues 1-12 of the cosmic comic book serial in a deluxe hardcover edition that goes on sale July 18. The new oversize collection will cost $34.99, and contain more than 40 pages of extra content.

Les 13 numéros de la série rétro-cosmique de Casey et Scioli qui suit (en partie) les aventures d'un astronaute transformé en surhomme en phase avec l'univers et son entourage de savants fous, d'agents rebelles et de monstres aliens, sont donc réédités dans un format hardcover avec une foule de bonus et un design de comicraft (qui réalise déjà le look si particulier des numéros mensuels).

Je ne connais que les épisodes dispos gratuitement sur newsarama mais, si on outrepasse la première impression d'hommage insistant au King ainsi qu'aux grands noms des seventies, la série donne envie (rythmée, ludique avec des personnages aux caractères bien définis et un regard contestataire en biais)

C'est Tom Scioli lui-même qui le dit sur son blog... Mais ça avait été annoncé par Image y'a qq jours imsemble...

La bonne nouvelle c'est que ça irait apparemment jusqu'au #36...
Vu que les ventes en singles ne sont pas mirifiques, c'est déjà un exploit que ça existe encore 2 ans environ après le lancement...

Et l'autre bonne nouvelle est qu'il va se remettre à sa série perso, The Myth Of 8 Opus... (voire mon topic dans la section Indépendants).

Pour Joe Casey, il a déjà d'autres séries (chez Image par exemple... Au moins 2... A vue-de-nez...).

Donc, de ttes façons, du Scioli, et du Casey, on en aura encore... P-être pas ensemble après la fin de Godland, mais bon, le principal est qu'ils continuent...

C'est clair que c'est déjà un miracle que Godland soit arrivé jusque là. La série a même eu droit à un oversized hardcover (http://www.amazon.fr/Godland-Celestial-1-Joe-Casey/dp/1582408327/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=english-books&qid=1210949519&sr=8-2), ce qui m'a fait halluciner.

En tout cas, merci et bravo à Image d'avoir soutenu Casey et Scioli de cette manière. J'espère juste qu'il iront jusqu'au bout de la démarche en publiant l'intégralité des 36 numéros en TPB. Le 4ème était prévu pour août sur Amazon (http://www.amazon.fr/Godland-Experimento-Afterlife-Joe-Casey/dp/1582409129/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=english-books&qid=1210951378&sr=1-4), mais il n'apparaît pas dans les les sollicitations d'Image (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=16436) . Je croise les doigts.

J'espère juste qu'il iront jusqu'au bout de la démarche en publiant l'intégralité des 36 numéros en TPB. Le 4ème était prévu pour août sur Amazon (http://www.amazon.fr/Godland-Experimento-Afterlife-Joe-Casey/dp/1582409129/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=english-books&qid=1210951378&sr=1-4), mais il n'apparaît pas dans les les sollicitations d'Image (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=16436) . Je croise les doigts.

Je suis très client de TPB, qui sont très pratiques quand on n'est pas tous les jours dans un comic-shop, et j'ai rattrapé mon retard et comblé mes lacunes dans ma collection avec les trois premiers TPB. J'attends moi aussi le quatrième, tudieu…

It comes out when it comes out. They're chugging through it but it's not monthly. There's a planned ending upcoming. It's a great book!
